SPF Health & Safety
Training Program
Master Safety Practices for SPF Users
As spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation and roofing grow in popularity among homeowners, builders and contractors, the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) is pleased to announce a free new online training program to help educate SPF users on good safety practices.
The SPF Chemical Health and Safety Training Program is easy to use and fully accessible to those using high pressure SPF.
The course, which is available at www.spraypolyurethane.org takes about 1.5 – 2 hours to complete.
At the end of the training, users successfully passing a test on the training material receive a “Recognition of Completion” form and wallet-sized card, which are valid for two years.

Mastering Building Science
Elevating Building Efficiency through Scientific Insight
Building Science can be defined as research across a broad spectrum of the sciences, including applied physics, chemistry and environmental science, in studying how physical phenomena affect the way buildings perform. The field primarily focuses on interior spaces, such as temperature, acoustics, light and air quality, and building materials and energy usage that affect the overall internal environment.
In practical terms, Building Science studies material applications and design parameters to maximize a building’s performance and sustainability while maintaining an optimal level of comfort. The scientific knowledge gained through practical experience and lab research is used to develop best practices for energy usage, sustainability and safety for new and existing buildings, and the creation of new materials and methods.
Whether your next project is commercial, residential or institutional — new construction or a retrofit — we invite you to click on any of the links in this section. Each goes into greater detail on how advanced spray foam insulation technology improves the efficiency and longevity of buildings that use them, and the improved quality of life for their occupants.
Decoding US Building Codes
Empower your Projects with Updated Insights
In The United States, every aspect of building construction — from materials, applications, and installation, to worker health and safety, environmental impact, historic preservation, and zoning — is heavily regulated. There are a myriad of agencies at the federal, state and local levels. This immense regulatory regimen can confound even the most experienced professionals, whether working on commercial, residential or institutional projects, new construction, or retrofit.
With building codes subject to change, and as new technologies come into general use, it is incumbent on us as manufacturers and dealers of advanced spray foam systems to keep abreast of these changes and regularly update our Technical Data Sheets (TDS). These updates allow us to advise our clients and other professional spray foam application contractors and technicians on which product is best for their needs, and the best practices to meet or exceed code requirements.
